A new face in the crowd.
Hi folks. My name is Lisa Davis and I am happy to introduce myself as the new Project Engineer for Barco. Since my start here at Barco, I have had the opportunity to speak with many of you and assist you on engineering-related issues, and I look forward to working with you in the future. Please be assured that helping our customers is the most rewarding part of working at Barco, and is my number one priority.
My engineering career began long before any formal education, hanging out in the shop with my dad and granddad, working on airplane engines and going to the steam engine shows in Southwest Missouri, but my "official" career began in the automotive industry. After graduating from the University of Missouri-Rolla with a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, I spent several years working on various aspects of internal combustion engines. This including researching fuel injection spray for emission reduction, engine testing, development engineering and project management for a fuel injector manufacturer, and working as an application engineer for turbochargers on diesel engines. Immediately prior to accepting my position at Barco, I was a product engineer for a positive displacement blower manufacturer. This broadened my experience to include design, development and application of many different seal designs for a whole myriad of industrial applications.
This experience fits right in with the challenges we face daily at Barco. Gaining an in-depth understanding of the various applications and industries that use Barco unions is my first goal. That means communication with you, the customer. Obviously, this is a never-ending process, and is the essence of what makes engineering fun. In the months and years to come, I look forward to the opportunity to visit many of you to understand first-hand the environment within which our product must perform. I am very enthusiastic about learning of new opportunities and working on the ground-floor level to develop your new applications as they arise. Just into my third month here at Barco, I am very much still on the steep part of the learning curve. As I become more familiar with you, I look forward to contributing to your success as an essential element of ours.
