Corrugators…All Boxed In

Whether it is a home appliance, a packing box for food, or new toys for the kids they're all packaged in corrugated cardboard boxes. Looking at the edge of one of these corrugated boxes you will see a fluted inner layer with flat liner board layers glued on the top and bottom. The corrugated inner layer is manufactured in one of the thousands of corrugator plants throughout the world. We know the grade is corrugator in North America and fluting in the rest of the world, but whatever the name, this matrix provides an extremely robust and strong packaging medium. The corrugations or flutings are produced using steam headted corrugated rolls on machines manufactured by such OEMs as Mitsubishi, BHS and Langston’s.

The application is quite demanding with high pressure steam as a standard and small rolls rotating at a fairly high speed. The Barco Super G union with its double carbon bearing construction and standard antimony impregnated seals and bearings provides the optimum in stability and wear resistance. The Barco Super G in sizes 1 1/4 in. to 2 in. with maximum steam operating pressure of 250 psi is field-proven to outlast the competition on any roll position on any type corrugator.
